With Phoenix growing larger by the day, there are countless new shopping centers dotting the city, each offering a different assortment of shops and eateries, and each with their own unique atmosphere. However, dragging your family out for a day of shopping can prove to be difficult–your son wants to look for new sports gear, your daughter has to have the latest trendy pair of shoes, and truthfully, your husband would rather just have a beer. This is where Desert Ridge Marketplace comes to the rescue. If there was ever a shopping center that truly catered to each individual member of your family, then Desert Ridge is the place.
The massive shopping center, conveniently located on Tatum Boulevard just North of Loop 101, covers over a million square feet of shops, restaurants, and entertainment that will suit the entire family. Several large retailers surround the center, including a Target Supercenter, JoAnn’s Fabrics and Crafts, Kohl’s, and Sports Authority. Located next to Ulta, the cosmetics superstore, are several discount clothing stores including Old Navy, Ross, and Marshalls HomeGoods; creating the perfect one stop shop for the upcoming back-to-school shopping season.
The heart of Desert Ridge, better known as “The District,” houses some of the most popular clothing retailers among kids and teens, including Hollister Co., Aeropostale, Industrial Rideshop, and American Eagle Outfitters. Come nightfall, The District hosts a variety of events and musical entertainment. Each Friday, the District Stage hosts local bands from 7 – 10 p.m., with performers such as Ghandi’s Garage; a Top 40 Cover Band, and Ratio; a Jazz and Soul band recognized as one of the “Best Jazz Bands in Phoenix” by Phoenix New Times Magazine. On the opposite side of the District, parents are welcome to drop kids off at AMC Theaters while they listen to live music at the AMC Fountain and sip wine at the nearby Nori patio. Kids can get in on the musical fun on Tuesday evenings, when Radio Disney DJs take over the stage, and host fun games and prize giveaways.
Desert Ridge also offers dozens of restaurant and dining venues, with options for both family dinners and date night. California Pizza Kitchen, Smashburger, and Islands Fine Burgers and Drinks are perfect for kids and parents alike; dessert can be found just around the corner at Cold Stone Creamery and Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory. Looking for something a bit more sophisticated? Wolfleys Neighborhood Grill, Nori, and Cafe Zupas are popular alternatives for happy hour drinks and dinner. Desert Ridge also boasts three breweries, including the not-to-be-missed Yard House, which offers dozens of draft brews–after all, it’s been a long day of shopping, and your husband sure does deserve that beer.
