Since opening it’s doors to Arizonans in 1994, Grayhawk Golf Club has solidified its spot as one of the top public courses in the Southwest, and for good reason. The scenic greens, located near stunning Pinnacle Peak, also features gorgeous views of the McDowell Mountains, and features two challenging courses: Talon, designed by PGA Tour and U.S. Open champs Gary Panks and David Graham, and Raptor, designed by Tom Fazio. Talon, Grayhawk’s original course, ranks among Golf Magazine’s “Top 100 You Can Play” list, a prestigious collection of the nation’s best courses. The Club consistently wins accolades from various other golf authorities, including Golfweek’s “Best Golf Courses: State by State”, and Golf Digest’s “Top 10 in the State You Can Play.” It’s no surprise then, that Grayhawk has hosted some of the Valley’s top tournaments, including the Tommy Bahama Challenge, Frys.com Open, and the Waste Management Phoenix Open Pro-Ams.
In addition to the Raptor and Talon courses, Grayhawk Golf Club offers several training and practice facilities, including the “Rock and Roll Range,” where golfers can swing to the jams of Lynyrd Skynyrd, Aerosmith, Bruce, and other rock legends, creating a fun golfing atmosphere unlike any other in the state. At the Grayhawk Learning Center (formerly the Kostis/McCord Learning Center), world-renowned golf instructors Peter Kostis, Gary McCord, Stan Utley, and Andrew Getson offer pro tips to golfers looking to lower their score. The Center offers several training session options, such as half-day workshops or several day Golf School courses, which are sure to help improve any player’s game in no time.
Given Grayhawk’s serene surroundings, the Club offers more than just a few rounds of golf: Valley residents have continued to choose Grayhawk Golf Club as a favorite spot for both weddings and wedding receptions, as well various special events. Each Wednesday evening, the Club hosts “Live at Grayhawk” on the Quill Creek Patio, which features live acoustic music, in addition to drink and appetizer specials. Quill Creek Cafe, located on the Raptor course, offers American cuisine with a Southwestern flair; while Phil’s Grill serves as the Club’s upscale sports bar. Those looking for a more formal dinner in the desert can indulge in Isabella’s Kitchen’s homemade pizzas, bruschetta and antipasti, created from fresh and local ingredients. Too busy hittin’ the greens to grab a bite? No worries– Grayhawk’s Takin’ it to the Streets food truck will deliver tasty eats right to the fairway, helping you to power through the tricky Raptor course.
